IV Iron Infusions

IV Iron Infusion with One Simple Referral

Embassy Health provides outpatient IV iron infusions for patients who may benefit from intravenous iron therapy. Our goal is to make the referral process as simple as possible for community physicians with no billing conflict for FHO patients.

What makes our service different?

We always have a physician on site for patient safety. Additionally, many infusion clinics require the referring physician to decide whether a patient is appropriate for IV iron, choose the iron formulation, and calculate the dose before the referral is accepted. We don't.

If additional bloodwork or investigations are advisable post infusion, we can organize those as well.

Interested in this service? Please consult your physician to obtain a referral.

A standard referral letter by fax is all that's required. Please include:

  • Patient demographics and contact information (phone and email if available)
  • OHIP health card number (if available)
  • Referring physician billing number
  • Recent labs with CBC and Ferritin (or full iron studies, if available)
  • Relevant medical history, current medications, and known allergies

After we receive the referral

Our team contacts the patient directly to schedule their virtual consultation. If IV iron is appropriate, we will:

  1. Determine the appropriate iron formulation and dose
  2. Prescribe the medication
  3. Answer the patient's questions and obtain informed consent
  4. Book the infusion appointment

Costs

The physician consultation is covered by OHIP. If the patient does not have a valid health card, then a $128 consultation fee will be charged.

The iron medication is prescribed separately and is often covered through private insurance. Prescriptions can be sent to the patient's preferred pharmacy or our on-site pharmacy.

The infusion sitting fee is $275. This fee is not covered by OHIP in the community setting, although some extended health plans may reimburse patients. A receipt is provided for insurance claims.

One simple referral. We handle the rest.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Support Your Body's Natural Healing

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is a regenerative treatment that uses a concentrated sample of your own blood to promote healing. Platelets contain natural growth factors that can help reduce pain, decrease inflammation, and support the repair of injured tissues.

PRP may be beneficial for conditions such as:

  • Tendon injuries (tennis elbow, Achilles tendinopathy, rotator cuff injuries)
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Ligament sprains
  • Muscle injuries
  • Mild to moderate osteoarthritis

Is PRP Right for You?

PRP may be an option if you have ongoing joint or tendon pain that has not improved with rest, physiotherapy, or other conservative treatments. A consultation is required to determine whether PRP is appropriate for your condition.

What to Expect

A small sample of blood is drawn and processed to concentrate the platelets. The PRP is then injected into the affected area. The procedure typically takes around 45 minutes and is performed in the clinic. Your consultation will be conducted by a highly trained specialist with extensive expertise in pain disorders. During your visit, your condition will be carefully assessed, your treatment options reviewed, and any questions you may have will be answered.

If you are deemed a candidate for PRP therapy, the procedure can often be performed on the same day as your consultation for added convenience.

Costs

The physician consultation is covered by OHIP. If the patient does not have a valid health card, then a $200.00 consultation fee will be charged.

The procedure sitting fee is $990.00 CAD. This fee is not covered by OHIP in the community setting, although some extended health plans may reimburse patients. A receipt is provided for insurance claims.
